Special Collections for Member Libraries

Aboriginal Books
Many of Marigold member libraries are within communities that have prominent First Nations populations. We hope to strengthen those relationships by highlighting aboriginal titles available in Marigold libraries, including titles from Inuit, Metis, and First Nations authors. The brochures showcase aboriginal children, tween, teen, adult, and audiovisual titles.

Book Club in a Box
Marigold creates Book Club in a Box kits (based on an initiative developed by Okotoks Public Library) in response to an increasing demand for current, discussion friendly titles. Patrons are able to form local book club groups using these kits. Each Book Club in a Box kit contains 8-10 copies of a title and a Reading Group Discussion Guide with a six week loan period.   TIP --  Do a keyword search for “book club in a box” in TRACpac for available titles.

Storytime Kit
Storytime kits offer member libraries more storytime options and program opportunities. Marigold Consultants provide resources and materials to make delightful storytimes available at a moment’s notice. Each kit has a specific theme and contains picture books, rhymes, songs, and fingerplays. These kits are designed to save time and money for member libraries and enable them to provide storytime programs to children and communities with minimal effort.
TIP --  Do a keyword search for “storytime kit” in TRACpac for available titles.

Alberta Multilingual Book Consortium World Languages Collection (AMBC)
This service is coordinated by Parkland Regional Library System. As Marigold Library System is a member of AMBC, Marigold member libraries have access to this service.  AMBC provides libraries with blocks of books and some AV material in various world languages. Marigold pays a membership fee on behalf of our member libraries so that we may all participate in this valuable service.

  • Multilingual book blocks are collections of books in many different languages that supplement member public libraries' existing collections
  • Multilingual books come in boxes (blocks) of 25 books each and are made up of a variety of both fiction and nonfiction titles
  • Both adult and juvenile blocks are available in most languages
  • Promotional posters (right) and square bookmarks to have at your circulation desk are available through Marigold headquarters
